Carl requested more IR Training here. So I thought a Question of the week type thing should identify what we should work on. This is not about right and wrong answers, but about everyone's perception of the subject. This will get us going on what we need to work on, so here goes...
Please vote so we can decide to move on or not.
This is a residential building with a gable roof. There is a 5 foot attic space with flat ceilings. The air conditioning is set at 68 F. It is 85 F. outdoors.

I clicked 1-2-3 as the answer, I don't know if it's right, have to head out to an inspection soon, but I sure would like to thank Dave for taking the time to make a poll...I don't know how to make polls--) but will learn-;)

That is a good show Barry!
Now lets think this through in the house application I used. As we saw, ALL Energy on earth comes from the sun (to start with). The sun warms the house roof, so it starts as Radiation. But how does it heat the air inside the house?
Our ultimate question to answer, is which from of heat transfer has the greatest effect on heating the indoor air of the house.
For anyone afraid of making a wrong answer, you can not determine this easily (if at all) so it will make for good conversation...
This should help your perspective of what we are trying to figure out in our thermal scans.

Not wrong! Maybe not the best answer?
Why did you choose radiation?

This is going to be a great discussion! This question really makes you think the way it is worded. You have to whittle away the extra information that can become confusing in order to arrive at the best answer.
